Butterfly Class September 2017 - July 2018

Musical Achievement

A huge well done to Seamus in Butterfly Class who passed this Grade 2 piano exam with a Merit. This is a fantastic achievement as Seamus only started to take piano seriously in September and skipped Grade 1 altogether. He will now be working hard towards his Grade 3. It was lovely to hear and enjoy his playing in the celebration assembly on Friday.

Little Princess Trust

You may remember Ellie was getting her hair cut for the Little Princess Trust. She bravely had a lovely new haircut and raised an amazing £659! Well done Ellie.

Our Class Inspirations

Evie, Lily C and Maya taught a lesson this week. They talked about fighting for good and saying no to things that are wrong. During the lessons everyone filled out a sheet which said what they wanted to be when they were older and how it will affect the world. They made all these sheets into a book. Well done girls, it was a great lesson.

Coastal Alliance Meeting


Well done to William - he was one of four children chosen to speak on behalf of the children from the Coastal Alliance Schools. He stood up and spoke at the Coastal Alliance Co-Operative Trust Board Meeting this week and did a fantastic job, we are very of you!

Penguin Class Exhibition


Friday, 26 March

Last Friday Penguin class had their exhibition and everyone enjoyed it. It started off with the parents taking part in Dingbats and then all of the class joined in with the Blues lead by Mr Knock. We then did a drama about the human body, followed by sports and a game of Pointless. Honey, Callum and Tristan played musical instruments and some other children performed gymnastic. In the end everyone said how good it was.

Horsebridge Art Invitation

3 December 2015


The Horsebridge Centre have kindly offered our classes to visit the centre to look at their artwork and for the children to take their sketch books. This week Penguin class visited the gallery, please have a look at the pictures below:


"On Thursday 3rd  of  December, Penguin Class went to visit the Horsebridge Art Gallery. We met people who talked to us on how to display their artwork and they helped us draw. Everyone had to take their sketch books and a pencil because we were going to draw one of the pictures on display. It was a great experience and we met some of the artists and they helped us, we also saw how they draw and paint."  


Christmas Competition

6 November 2015

This afternoon the children are designing a Christmas scene. The theme of the design is to imagine you are outside looking into a house. Entrants whose pictures are displayed will each receive a Whitefriars goody bag. The school of the overall winner will receive £200 to spend in any Whitefriars store.

Term 5: Art

Wednesday 20 May

This week we have been exploring life cycles. As part of our learning, we have been looking in detail at reproduction in some typical plants and animals.


In Art, we have been studying flowers and trying to capture the details and textures of the different parts of the plants. Below are some examples of the brilliant pieces we produced.

Tuesday 19 May

Today we looked at Henri Rousseau’s artwork. We looked at how he uses colour, shape and texture to convey the theme of jungle life. The children took inspiration from illustrated books as this is a technique that Rousseau himself often used. The children used three different artistic methods to create their final pieces. They drew their jungle animal in felt tip pen, their jungle landscape in pastels and finally created a collaged border.
