School Garden

We are fortunate to have at 'The Endowed' School an area which we have dedicated to growing fruit and vegetables.  One day we hope to grow enough produce to supply our school kitchen. We also have a greenhouse and a shed, in which gardening can be carried out.  All the children in our school have the opportunity to try out some gardening during their time here, and on Thursday and Friday afternoons, one of our Enrichment activities is gardening. We also have several members of staff who are themselves keen gardeners and therefore promote gardening within the school.  Our flower beds and planters around the school are also looked after by the children and we are very proud to have been awarded 1st place for the 'Whitstable in Bloom' competition in 2010. The pictures below show some of the beautiful work that is going on.

Our Gardening Club, which takes place on a Tuesday afterschool, do a grand job in looking after our school gardens. When it rains, which it has been doing quite alot this year, gardening club still carries on, but we come inside and learn about all things 'garden', including researching information on the internet and doing art work with a garden theme. More pictures of their activities can be found under the 'School Clubs' tab.
