Parent Info is a new free service for schools. Parent Info is a collaboration between The Parent Zone which has been providing information and support to parents for a decade, and CEOP, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection command of the National Crime Agency.

Below you will have direct access to a collection of articles, tips, expert advice and resources designed to help parents keep up with what their children are doing online.

At The ’Endowed’, we have taken great steps to ensure that pupils stay as safe as possible when using devices online. All classes have had clear online safety training outlining ways in which the pupils can avoid issues using the World Wide Web and communicating online.

They have also been given clear steps to take if they do encounter any issues which ensure that the children minimise their exposure to online issues. Please read our online safety PowerPoint presentation that all classes were shown at the beginning of this year.

The children have also signed an Acceptable Use Policy, promising that they will follow key steps to avoid any online safety issues and outlining that they know how to act if they do have any issues. The children have also been clearly taught to use their school email responsibly and this service is provided so the children can send work to their teachers and collaborate together on work tasks. They understand they must use the school’s email responsibly in order to continue using this system.

The children recently took part in the globally co-ordinated Safer Internet Day this year, making pledges to make the internet a safer place for everybody else as well as themselves. They considered how they might be more skilled in dealing with computing and online safety issues and how they could help each other with these problems in the future. These pledges are now displayed in the school’s Computer Suite on an important display that outlines how the school’s network is connected to the Internet and the various connections in the school as well.

Children are also reminded regularly during lessons when using the internet for research and communication, of their online safety training so that they have these ideas fresh in their minds every time they use computers at the school and hopefully, when they use computers at home as well.
