The Governing Body

Welcome to our Governors’ section

The Governing Body

The ‘Endowed’ is very fortunate to have a group of governors who willingly give of their time and talents to support the school. We meet as a Full Governing Body six times a year and the sub-committees also meet regularly.

School governors provide strategic leadership and accountability in schools. Governors appoint the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher and hold the main responsibility for finance. It is governors who work with the headteacher to make the tough decisions about balancing resources.

The role of the governing board is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

  • set the aims and objectives for the school;
  • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives;
  • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives;
  • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives;
  • be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (act as a critical friend).

The Governing Body, as employers, confirms that there are no members of staff that are employed at the school who are earning £100,000 or more per annum.
