Octopus Class: September 2026 - July 2027 

29 September

Our Year 4 Octopus and Penguin classes have been learning all about Maya buildings and comparing their structures to Anglo-Saxon homes. They had great fun putting their learning into practice by designing and building their own Ancient Maya inspired structures using a variety of materials, including recycled boxes, LEGO and bricks.

17 September

Octopus Class enjoyed a practical maths lesson today exploring different ways to partition thousands. They used hands-on resources to split numbers into thousands, hundreds, tens and ones, helping them develop a deeper understanding of place value.

15 September

Monkton Nature Reserve came in and gave a delightful talk about the reserve and all the different species of animals and insects that live there. She listened carefully to the children’s questions and brought in some examples from nature for the children to see. The children really enjoyed learning about the wildlife and were excited to see the nature examples up close.

2nd September
Octopus Class had a lovely morning learning how to draw an octopus step by step. They listened carefully, followed each step and then had lots of fun colouring their octopuses. It was wonderful to see them using their imagination and creativity to make each octopus unique and individual.
