    Playground fun and games

It has been lovely to see the children having fun and enjoying the new playground equipment. Despite the rather grey weather this week the children have made good use of the boat, drawbridge, climbing wall and castle and it's been great seeing them use their imagination through play.

The games court will be ready soon too, unfortunately the weather is holding this back slightly.

    Fire Safety Talks

Max and Debbie from Kent Fire Service came in on Thursday morning to give the children some fire safety talks. The children were involved in answering lots of questions about being safe around matches and fires, smoke alarms and how often to check them, when to call 999, escape plans and lots more.

A big thank you to Max and Debbie for their time and for helping to keep us all safe.

Please take a look at the Kent Fire Rescue website for lots of useful tips and information.

  • Kent Life Stone Age Trip

    Kent Life Stone Age Trip

Years 3 & 4 enjoyed a fabulous day on Monday, exploring life in the Stone Age at Kent Life near Maidstone.

The children all attended various interactive learning workshops during the day which included: daily life, cave painting, hunting & gathering, weapons and beliefs. They even bumped into a 'real' Stone Age man 'Claw' and were given their own Stone Age names. A fantastic way to consolidate all the hard work the children have been doing in school.

The Schools are ranked by the aggregated scaled scores achieved by children in reading, grammar and maths from SATs taken in 2017.

There are 16,776 state primary schools in England so it's an amazing achievement and we are incredibly proud.

    WWI Focus Week

The children have had a very informative and creative week learning about the WWI. They all took part in a workshop where they learnt what life was like for a solider, made clay poppies and other art works, rope poems, prayers and learnt songs from the era too.

WWI 'Poetry, Poppies and Peace' Exhibition

The children will be holding a special Centenary Exhibition for Parents/Carers and the Public. The public are welcome to attend on Tuesday 13 November and parents and carers on Wednesday 14 November both times are 1.15-4pm.

Think of Me - Horsebridge Exhibition

Mrs Gilbert, staff and children have helped create some of the Sweetheart cushions that will be on display at the 'Think of Me' Exhibition at the Horsebridge Galleries. It is a community led project to mark the Centenary of The First World War by remembering soldiers associated with Whitstable, who lost their lives during the conflict.

    'There but not there'

After a successful application we have been lucky enough to receive 6 'Tommy' silhouettes and have given one to each class. These silhouettes symbolise a local soldier who lost his life in WWI that each class have researched and found out more about him.  The silhouettes will be on display at our exhibition on 13th and 14th November.

Thank you to the Gaskin family who sent in their Great-Grandad's medals from the WWI. They will be on display as part of our Centenary Exhibition.
