  • Happy Birthday Captain Tom Moore

    Thu 30 Apr 2020

Happy 100th Birthday Captain Tom Moore

Did you send Captain Tom Moore a card for his 100th birthday today?

He received over 140,000 cards which were displayed at his Grandson's school - so if you sent a card it will be there to!

Captain Tom was given the title of Colonel today along with a special Hurricane and Spitfire flypast and his fundraising page has now reached just over £30 million!

What wonderful news and what an inspirational man.

Happy 100th Birthday Captain Tom Moore from all the children at school!

  • VE DAY: Bake for Victory

    Thu 30 Apr 2020

Bake for Victory: VE Day Community Bake

    in support of Age UK

With the lockdown still in effect local Councillor Chris Cornell has let us know that two local youth groups (Who Let the Dad’s Out & Whitsparkle) are working to support Age UK in a programme to see if they can get 120 sets of cupcakes baked by local people for elderly residents receiving Meals on Wheels this VE Day.

The project seems a very sensible way of marking the occasion through a simple act of generosity and we are seeing if schools could support the idea in their recommended home school learning for the week beginning the 4th May.

People only need to bake a small box of cupcakes and drop them into the reception of Age UK (16 Reculver Road) anytime on Thursday 7th.

We’d actually like to encourage everyone to look at the Who Let the Dad’s Out Website (www.dadsinwhitstable.co.uk) where they can find out information on the idea and link to a number of resources they have already sources for EYFS through to KS4 if parents want to explain the importance of VE Day. The link is https://www.dadsinwhitstable.co.uk/bake4victory

A great community project to get involved with!

    News Round-up! Team 5

So this week we have been focusing on Life in The sea. We have painted huge sea creatures and covered them with plastic lids. We have watched the film ‘Free Willy’ and learnt ‘Baby Shark’  and the chorus of ‘Under the sea’ on glockenspiel. Also, have created PowerPoint facts on sea creatures and have had competed against each other in sea themed Kahoot! quizzes.

Listen to the amazing Glockenspiel 'Under the Sea'

In addition, we learnt and performed the song, ‘Thank You Baked Potato’ by Matt Lucas.

A busy,  fun packed creative week!

    Team School! Week 5

Team 5 Ms Butcher, Mrs Hewitt and Miss Vass are busy in school this week. They have created brilliant sealife creatures with some of the bottle tops we asked you to donate a while ago.

We would be really grateful if you could still collect the plastic bottle tops - especially black and white ones if possible. Please keep these at home, ready to bring in to school when we are all back. Thanks so much in advance.

Thank you to all the children on Tuesday for singing the funny 'Baked Potato' Song, click the below link to see their unique take on it!
