    Collective Worship

On Wednesday the whole school joined Jane for worship in St Alphege church. She told us about Fairtrade. Fair Trade is a process used by organisations around the world to make sure that they buy and sell goods that have been produced from farms that pay a fair price to their farmers. We were able to reflect on the proverb:

Whenever you possibly can, do good to those who need it and consider how we can treat others fairly both in person and in the wider world.

    Flamingos find a good book!

    Wednesday 10 February

Yesterday, Flamingo Class visited the Whitstable Library. They thanked the Librarian who kindly donated lots of books for our Classroom reading corners. The Librarian explained the types of children books they have in stock and explained how they can join the library. Did you know there are over 6,000 children books currently in stock and over 1,000 were out on loan that day. It was a great opportunity for the children to browse all the different books and to discover a new book that they may like to read.

    Expansion Update

We are pleased to say the expansion work is coming along really well and it is very exciting to watch the new buildings take shape. There are lots of updated photos of the building work, please click on the below link to view our picture gallery.

We have been given some provisional dates and these are that the new Class 7 will be ready to take occupation from the end of March with the new canteen block being completed by the end of June. Obviously this is just provisional and could be subject to change, but fingers crossed!

    Fantastic Football!

Our boys A team had an astonishing win against Bysing Wood this week, beating them 13-0 and keeping them on track to win the league. Goals from Charlie L (5), Jonny (3), Leo (3), Josh (1) and Theo (1) ensured another fantastic result for our boys team making Mr H and many parents very proud. Thank you to Harry, Kurt, Charlie L, Josh, Theo, Jonny, Leo, Noah and Max for an amazing football season.

Our boys B Team also had a fantastic 6-0 win against Bysing Wood. With Goals from Rowan (2), Sam (2), Charlie (1) and Oscar (1). The referee came to us after the match to say how well Hal captained the side - a great ambassador for the school. Well done to Vinnie, Rowan, Seth, Harvey, Oscar, Callum, Hal, Cal, Ruben, Finley, Sam, Charlie C and Arthur for a brilliant football season.

A huge well done to both teams. Mr H and Mr Baker

    Lunar New Year!

Hummingbird Class watched a video on Tuesday and found out all about Chinese New Year and the Year of the Tiger.

Dahlia is half Chinese and spent most of her life living in China. She made some crafts with her mum to decorate their house and brought them in to show her classmates.

    Inspired by 'The Garbage King'

Lewis in Flamingo has been really inspired by the book ‘The Garbage King’ by Elizabeth Laird, which the Upper School have been reading this term in English. He created this beautiful piece of writing:

As Dani lay, inches from sleep, he heard the crunching of leaves and the whistling wind slowly soar through his eager mind. Flooded with the continuous reminder of torture and pain from his ruthless, wretched, foul father running across his mind like a horse finally let free in a luscious green field.

The void of endless thick fog left his vision askew, with a sudden shock he saw a wretched disgusting beggar peer around the tomb wall. Dani stewed in the corner like a broken antique clock.
