Children's Mental Health Week
Fri 29 Jan 2021Children's Mental Health Week
Children's Mental Health Week runs from 1-7 February and this year it is even more essential than ever to make our children feel supported with all the disruption and uncertainty they have had to face. The Oak National Academy is working alongside charities Place2B and Bafta Kids for a FREE online assembly at 9am on Monday 1st February on the theme of the week 'Express Yourself'.
Express Yourself
Please see our letter sent from our SENCo Mrs Hewitt, with some suggested activities she has put together for the children in schoo and at home to take part in. Each day will have a different focus under 'Express Yourself' - ending on Friday 5 February with a 'Dress to Express yourself' at home on Teams and at school. Expressing yourself through clothes, hair or accessories is a great opportunity for self-expression!

Mrs Hewitt has posted about a fantastic new 'Endowed Lockdown Art Competition' on the children's class pages.
The theme is 'A View from My Window' and you can use any medium you want to create a piece of artwork.
You could create an actual view from your window or an imaginary view (e.g a window into your dreams) or the view you want for the future when you look out of your window - think outside the box!
There will also be one extra prize for the best submission from an adult at home, so everyone can get involved not matter how young or old!

Oxford Owl: Free eBook Reading Library
Tue 19 Jan 2021FREE - eBook Reading Library
Oxford Owl
Hi everyone!
With most of our children now learning from home I wanted to just reinforce how important it is for the children to still be reading. Each class now has a daily reading time for all the children to join a teams call, if you are at all unsure of this time please contact their specific teacher and they will help you.
However, more so now than ever, it's vital children are able to escape the real world and delve into a good book! Therefore I wanted to recommend to you the website and free online provision of Oxford Owl. They have a fantastic variety of books suited for each age, that can be read online for free.
