TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed and Sparkles
Mon 30 Nov 2020TT Rockstars, Spelling Shed and Sparkles
Time Tables Rockstars Rock Week!
In early November, our school took part in the Times Tables Rockstars Rock Week. Although our school did not win any of the national competitions we still had some amazing performances from individual pupils at The Endowed in that week (9th - 14th November).
Our champions in the Lower School were:
Josh - Bluebell Class - Lower School Gold!
Barney - Dahlia Class - Lower School Silver
Molly - Iris Class - Lower School Bronze
Our champions in the Upper School were:
Kirsty - Tulip Class - Upper School Gold!
Isabel - Tulip Class - Upper School Silver
Cleo - Tulip Class - Upper School Bronze
Well done to Josh who earned the most coins and spent the longest on TTRockstars, practising his times tables that week!
Alex Leone
Upper School Leader, Sunflower Class Teacher
Spelling Shed
This week we have launched a new fantastic spelling scheme called Spelling Shed! The children have all been given logins which you will find in their contact books for them to have a go at home. They will now be using this scheme in school to learn and practice their spellings. They can log in using a desktop or you can download the App if you would rather. This is a really exciting new opportunity for the children to earn points and gain rewards whilst learning their spellings.
As always, thank you for your support.
Mrs Blinston-Jones, English Lead
WHITSPARKLE
The Lighthouse Keeper's Club have been busy being extra sparkly and creative embellishing Christmas decorations donated by our local community Group 'Whitsparkle'. The decorations will be collected this week, waterproofed and then hung on community Christmas trees around Whitstable.
'Whitsparkle' have also organised this LIGHT UP WHITSTABLE event - all from the comfort of your doorstep! For more details please see their Facebook page www.facebook.com/WeAreWhitSparkle/

Festive Fun!
Mon 30 Nov 2020Festive Fun!
Festive Lunch and Christmas Jumper
Instead of our normal whole school Christmas Dinner, where we all get together in the school hall, we have arranged to do Festive Lunch Packs instead so we do not mix class bubbles within school due to the pandemic. Your child may also, if they wish, wear their Christmas Jumper to school on Friday 11th December in aid of Save The Children in return for a voluntary contribution of £1.00 which can be paid via the School Gateway. Please note for Lowers School: Mr. Hadlow has asked me to let you know that the children in Years 3 and 4 will wear their nativity costumes to school on Friday 11th December and that they may wear their Christmas Jumpers on Friday 18th December so that they do not miss out.
For more details, please click on the below Letter Link
PTFA - Christmas Craft
Our wonderful PTFA have arranged to supply Christmas Crafts for every child to be able to make something in class instead of our Traditional Christmas Shopping event which sadly cannot take place this year.
We would be extremely grateful if you could please make a voluntary contribution of £3 towards this, paid via the School Gateway.
We have also purchased a Christmas Gift for all the children.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Kind regards,
Cheryl, PTFA Chair

Remote Home Learning
Fri 20 Nov 2020Remote Home Learning
Home learning is now all available on the children's TEAMS pages so they can access any work there if they are at home. Whilst the school are required to provide remote learning for those pupils not in school, the content will be minimal unless and until a whole bubble or the whole school closes.
You will appreciate it is difficult for the teachers to deliver an online lesson at the same time as they are teaching in school.
If they need any support, please do not hesitate to email the class teachers or send them a message on TEAMS.

Virtual Tour - Canterbury Cathedral
Cathedral School Days for Year 6 children have been an established part of The Endowed Calendar for many years, but in these strange times we were unable to go to Canterbury in person, so instead, we brought the experience into school. Our in-school activities included a virtual tour, a prayer pilgrimage and exploring stained glass windows.
Welcome - Mrs Stanley
We would like to say a big welcome to Mrs Stanley who has joined us this term. Mrs Stanley is a trained teacher but has joined us as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and will be working with children as part of the Government Catch up scheme.

Lest We Forget
Wed 11 Nov 2020Lest We Forget
Wednesday 11 November
Thank you to Mrs Moody who made a beautiful crochet wreath for the school that our Visual Ambassadors, Ms Butcher and Mrs Gilbert took to the Whitstable War Memorial for Armistice Day. We also observed a 2 minute silence at 11am to remember and honour all those who gave their lives for peace and paid the price for our freedom.
Our Remembrance Poppy
Thank you to all our wonderful children in creating this beautiful poppy collage. Every child made an individual poppy flower which was carefully designed and then skilfully laid out in the hall so each class could view it. Thank you also to Mrs Gilbert for her vision in creating this striking collective piece of artwork and planning a whole day of Remembrance activities based on the book ‘Where the Poppies Now Grow’.

Thu 05 Nov 2020Patrick's Haircut! Princess Trust Charity
Patrick in Poppy Class has been kindly growing his hair so that he could donate it to the Little Princess Trust Charity. Over half term he bravely had it all cut off and his hair will now be used to make wigs for children suffering from cancer for the Little Princess Trust. Well done Patrick and we think your new hair cut is fab!
Free Meal Campaign
Archie in Poppy Class and Isla in Iris Class were both so inspired by Marcus Rashford's free meals campaign during half term that they both spent their pocket money buying some goods to donate to the food bank. What a kind and thoughtful thing to do, well done Archie and Isla.
Poppy Appeal
If your child would like to purchase a poppy we have a Poppy Appeal collection in school. At school we will be holding a two minute silence on Wednesday 11 November at 11.00am.
Children in Need
Friday 13 November is Children in Need. Children can come to school wearing something spotty for a £1 donation via school gateway or bring a coin in on the day.
